Hong Kong Week

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong Week is a major cultural exchange extravaganza that showcases Hong Kong's creative excellence and promotes artistic collaboration across regions.

The inaugural edition, "Festival Hong Kong 2019 – A Cultural Extravaganza@Shanghai" was held from 1 to 23 November 2019. Subsequent editions, "Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou" and "Hong Kong Week 2022@Wuhan, Hubei" were held in a hybrid mode (in-venue and online) from 17 April to 5 June 2021 and from 15 February to 5 March 2023 respectively, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Hong Kong Week 2023@Bangkok, held from 21 October to 12 November 2023, marked the festival's first overseas edition. Following this milestone, Hong Kong Week 2025@Seoul, staged from 26 September to 25 October 2025, further showcased Hong Kong's artistic achievements to the world audience.

Across the five editions, Hong Kong Week featured a total of 70 programmes, comprising 256 live events and 45 online programmes. The festival has attracted over 1.8 million participants and 2.7 million online viewers. This successful model has not only played a key role in consolidating Hong Kong's position as an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange, but also by holding the festival alternately in the Chinese Mainland and overseas cities, has steadily advanced Hong Kong's cultural presence on the global stage.

In 2026, Hong Kong Week will arrive in Chengdu, showcasing Hong Kong's cultural vibrancy and artistic diversity. Opening on 4 September, the festival features about 14 programmes with over 55 performances and activities, spanning dance, music, theatre, film, intangible cultural heritage, toy culture, interior design and more, fostering exchanges and collaboration between the arts communities of Hong Kong and Chengdu. Together, they will write a new chapter in Sichuan-Hong Kong cooperation.
